Does anyone know of an application (preferably free) which you can rip music, or even video (which would be better), on a mac,

Audacity. Set source on the Mixer toolbar to "Stereo Mixer" and hit record.

Or use Sound Recorder. Go into the recording options and select Line In or "What U Hear" or something similar.

Wiretap. Records exactly the output of the computer. Easy to use and simple.

I find the easiest way to do it is to use Audacity's record function, set to Wave Out Mix/Stereo Mix/What U Hear (name varies depending on the soundcard you have).

If someone has used the flash player software to present audio on a site, its done for two reasons, 1 for easer loading and 2, so you cant nick it!
