I assume it's because they had a droppable programme with Love Your Garden whereas they didn't want to drop Corrie and Millionaire last time.
I find it slightly odd they decided for a news special for 10pm bans on pubs whilst the initial lockdown and then the unlocking statements had nothing...

No idea why they had an ad break they don’t even usually have them in any of their bulletins.

It shouldn't matter what programme was being dropped however. Especially as at the time Corrie was being cut down to 3 a week so they could easily have rescheduled the episode.

From ITV's POV, something like Love Your Garden can easily be dropped because it only does okay business and is self contained whereas dropping Corrie and Millionaire rate highly and also scheduling wise, it would have been a headache.

Has to be the first ITV Wales News special outside of the standard slots in quite some time.
ITV Wales broadcast the PM's speech then had their own ITV news special presented by Andrea Byrne which included our first minister speaking.

Yes I cant remember the last time ITV Wales opted out of the national ITV News with their own programme. They should have done when restrictions were eased the first time around and Wales had a totally different set of rules to England. We weren't allowed to travel for example and even when we could it was limited to 5 miles for quite some time.

A lovely little mention of ITN’s 65th birthday tonight on news at 10 at 10:30 by Julie.

She just said: "It was 65 years ago today that ITN broadcasted its first programme; thank you for staying up to watch this one."

One of these days I would really love it if they could close an anniversary programme with Non Stop instead of the usual music. We’ve had old versions of the News at Ten theme but Non Stop hasn’t been heard for decades. Granted, now probably isn’t the time for jolly end music but let’s hope for the 70th anniversary.
