I am studying the BBC Points West programme. In particular, I am looking at genre (news/magazine?), audience (50+?), construction and news selection.

If you could provide any of your own thoughts on the programme, what you think is done well, not done well. Or provide information about what you consider to be the strategy of Points West (i.e. how it may differ from HTV West News, or other BBC regional programmes).

Any pointers would be very helpful and gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Rob.

Ok, just a quickie here really, but as a viewer....

Points West seems to have hard news for the first 10 minutes of each program, but then the stories that actually happen on a regional basis inevitablty start turning it into a magazine show. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with this - this is more a comment on regional news than anything.

Thanks, that's the type of thing i'm looking for, any kind of viewer opinion is appreciated.

Maybe after this piece of work, you'd like to join us as a lengthier-standing member?

Does my post go against the conventions of this forum? I admit I have signed up for this purpose, it's a bit new to me. Not sure what you're getting at!

No problem with the nature of the post, but it's something you might consider....... stick around when your coursework's done!

I really enjoy Points West. Most of the presenters are brilliant! It is far better than HTV West , whom just stay sitted behind the desk for the whole programme! Well Produced......probably because of Maurice Flynn!
Picking up what you have said about the audience age I wouldn't say 50+ I would say more like any age. Very Happy
