It's a respectable effort, but I'm not sure there is anything special about it.

I think its decent, and much better than our previous efforts from the last two years. I reckon we might stand a chance, but I'm not holding my breath...

I think based on effort and her good voice, I can't see us getting any higher than 5th and that's if they do put the promotion in on the continent. 5th would be a placing many fans would like to see and I suspect that's how well the BBC would like it to do.

The song is powerful not sure it's catchy enough though. I think the lyrics remind me of a modern Love Shine a Light, I think the BBC are hoping for the same kind of affect.

I hope I'm wrong as I'd love us to see another BBC produced contest after 16 years.

Depends if the BBC have got ideas on having a shot at hosting the 60th, and this massive switch in attitude suggests so. If Katie Taylor was in charge still she'd have us sending Sinitta.

Much better and this is the way to go about it but still would like the public to get the final say on it, even if it is a choice of only 3-4 entrants - or at the very least show a one-off special showing how the BBC chose the entrant.

One step at a time though and I think this is a positive step - it's not about finding someone to win at all costs, it's about showing the contest and the viewer a bit of respect. The song isn't bad and ticks a few boxes with a simple repeated ultimately meaningless lyric which all of Europe will understand.

Would be good to
1. Reduce the level of the instruments and backing singers and
2. Increase Molly's voice level.
in the final performance. She's swamped at times in the available mix.

One consequence of using the 'Introducing' method is that the choice narrows to soft or hard rock orientated material in the round. You're not going to get 'pure pop' from that source, maybe eliminating the 'boyband' act from the mix could be an error, inevitably a good pop tune gets into the top five each year. I can't see an Eric Saade emerging from Introducing as an example.

I'm delighted to see the BBC make an effort to launch the song with (some) fanfare. It could have done with more promotion IMO but at least it's not just playing a dodgy pop video at the end of a half-hour programme in a graveyard slot (Blue) or interviewing a legend on Graham Norton and saying (woop woop) they're the Eurovision hopeful. This had some sense of anticipation, excitement and, dare I say it, production, that actually has got a lot of people interested and engaged in this year's chances (and there's the key, the UK's interest in the song we've chosen for the last few years has been lower than it should be).

Good job - great direction in the venue and not a bad song at all IMO, though it has to compete with some very strong songs from the stuff I've seen from ESC selection shows in the last few weeks. If you get the chance, definitely watch the final of Melodifestvalen, this weekend. Some very good songs this year, although the production hasn't quite been top-drawer compared to recenty years. You can stream it live on www.svt.se/play or via www.eurovision.tv

I don't think the song is that good, and it sounds too shouty. It would have been better if we had a TV show with different songs to choose from.

Sadly, the UK's track record of choosing songs for the ESC hasn't been terribly good, and the graveyard slots the shows had didn't help. The one year it worked particularly well IMO, and with some success at the contest, was the Andrew Lloyd Webber thing when Jade Ewan won, but Scooch, Daz Sampson, etc and even going back to selecting Love City Groove over some better songs on the night shows it's not always the answer...

It'll lend itself well to an arena though, which is ultimately what matters. Looking forward to hearing a studio version, mind you.

Many people also pointing out that the "Power To The People" hook will go down well in the current climate! 12 points from Ukraine then. Wink

All they need is a selection show where all the songs are good, then no one can complain that the public is selecting bad songs. If they were bad songs the BBC shouldn't have put them in the selection show - they should only have included good songs in it.

You're not. But I wouldn't have Lena or Emile De Forrest down as "pure pop". Both are the more "quirky" genre we've seen emerge since the late 00's. Artists with Molly's style are really in vogue right now, and I think it'll make people sit up and take notice after Josh Whatshisname, Blue and the two nearly-deads.

It's certainly a two-horse race between us and Spain as things stand.
