Jeremy Bowen finished the show, and it ended with a live shot of Brussels with the 'Breakfast BBC Copyright' etc overlayed.

This stayed on for ages, and about 30 secs later, froze.

At 09:00.10 we changed to the BBC2 Temporary Fault caption, the announcer apologised and music began.

At about 09:01, the announcer told us we could join BBC News 24, and we crashed in, mid-way through a report, The presenter didn't say anything about the fault

What did the BBC2 apology caption look like? Is this its first showing since the November revamp?

BBC News 24 had a fault with the trailers coming up to the hour at 1:00pm. The video seemed to freeze halfway through each trailer, so they started the next one... this happened to about three. On the final one, they faded up the countdown, but the remaining audio of the trailer could be heard over it. Then, the countdown finished as normal, and there were no more problems.

I saw this, and I could just imagine the swearing in BBC2 transmission control at 9.00am!

Ok, although I'm not sure that the breakdown card has been show before, it was the 'house' yellow, with a small BBC 2 inverted towards the bottom left of the screen (a la 'bounce' ident) with the usual BBC TWO box milling about where it normally is.

The caption was in gills sans, looked like around point 14 size in black and positioned about 10cms down from the top and around 4-6cms in from the left hand side of the screen (or if you look to the side of the page where you type your text and imagine the smillies box was the tv screen, the text started roughly where 'smile' smillie is..)

Made watching Breakfast news worth watching...

Well while we're talking about breakdowns...I got this late last night on C4.

Not sure which ident it was meant to be as it was very quickly replaced with the standard in/out caption for the following programme - which the anno talked over as normal.

Cheers, Asa

Yes I saw that too but didnt you see in between one of the trailers you saw the studio with the camera view the same as below where you saw Peter Dobbie talking to Valerie Sanderson (you couldt see her) and on the plasma screen was the market board used for the business update. Its a pitty it didnt happen quicker as you might have see peter getting into the chair or the other presenter leaving

That's interesting. No, I didn't notice that, I wasn't in the room, and only came in when the audio went wrong, so I wasn't prepared.

There should be a channel, or a few channels, with nothing on but direct feeds from each of News 24's cameras, and OB's. I'm sure us lot would watch it! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hmm .. it says that its transmission is between November 14th 01 until January 31st 03 .. does this mean that C4 idents are changing next January as well!?

Most of the beeb's transmissions suites, galleries and studios have access to such a facility - if you know the routing code, you can watch or listen to the output of any studio.  Chris Moyles played with that on air a while ago, and for some reason, listened in to Radio 2 and, erm, Radio Manchester, I think.

That's not quite true. Most radio stations only have one programme share line coming out of each station, with the obvious exception of the regional centres. If the line is tied up with another booking you wouldn't be able to switch and listen to just any studio ...

You can listen to most studios, it's done via an old basys system and switching at the radio stations rather than via 'codes'

During Peter Levy's show on BBC Radio Leeds, Peter used to occasionally put BBC Radio Humberside (or York can't remember which) on live to air, to 'see what rubbish they had on'.

So he must have access to this, the Radio Leeds set up also has the BBC One jingles ready to play too for some reason.

Anyway, back to the original mistake, does anyone know how it could have happened cos I really can't work it out!

Half way through that live shot from Belgum, the clock changed from the Breakfast red one to the News 24 purple one, so it must have been the News 24 feed, not the one from the Breakfast studio. It seemed like it confused BBC TWO Pres, anyway - the CA sounded really confused! It was the female one who's been on for quite a while (forgot her name, but she was definitely there back when they said their names at closedown), and she said something like 'Errr, We were expecting to link up with News 24 there, but until we can get that link back, here's some music'.

Anyone know how it could have happened?
