Incidentally, the opening titles of Crosswits from that era has one of the worst examples of computer animation for the sake of it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMQgKFwPB9o
Definitely from the school of fold up a image and whizz it round the screen

And the production endcap still said "Tyne Tees" despite being in the C3NE era.

There are probably worse designed endcaps than a giant, golden 3 but I can't think of them from the top of my head.

The worst one has to be the "a Tyne Tees Television Production for Channel 3 North East", where Newcastle had shoehorned the copyright date under the 3 but above the production blurb, in a completely different typeface and with no drop-shadow. A more cluttered, messy design is difficult to envisage.

I'm sure it'd had been said before that the 3 endcap was only for local shows and they'd use the word Tyne Tees in yellow lettering for networked shows.

Yeah I am pretty sure they got rid of the 3s in the background too for networked shows.

As seen in that second Cross Wits video. I also remember Mashed, the Saturday morning show, using that Tyne Tees non-logo circa 1997.

I dunno why that other episode of Cross Wits has the Channel 3 branding, unless Tyne Tees showed it first in their region before it was networked. I remember Granada were showing it at 5.10 around that time, because I vividly remember watching it at teatime on Christmas Eve. The holidays start here!

Chain Letters used it too, that series was actually repeated by Challenge a few years back.

That music takes me back too. Very... jazzy.

Your composer is Mr Simon Etchell.

I guess but then I guess if Blockbusters 'whistlestop tour around tin foil city' titles had been computerised you could have said the same. They didn't have much to do with the programme!

That year's series wasn't networked. All the regions aired it at different times.

So we assume there were different edits of some episodes about - one with C3NE on the end and one with Tyne Tees/ITV.

C3NE certainly showed the 'Tyne Tees' branded episodes, so I assume they discontinued making different prints. (There's always the wee chance those early episodes had the C3NE caption overlaid 'live' when shown on C3NE).

As an afterthought, I assume YTV and C3NE simulcast the episodes, so I wonder what YTV viewers saw?!

As I remember it this was an error... the series started quite early in C3NE's time and after a small number of episodes (possibly only two or three) the endcap was changed. It's even possible that a proper endcap didn't exist until the first batch of shows had already gone out.
