When looking at itv Teletext today, we still seem to be having yesterday's news.

Are they on strike or something.?.

It's always the same. AFAIK, PA provide the teletext service for ITV. They're always behind. Perhaps, ITV should give the contract to ITV News?

Its' not ITV's contract to give. Remember the local ITV company only controls P600-699 (and 888) on the service. Teletext Limited are a completely seperate company with a seperate licence (one which applies to both ITV and C4, though Five's service is also operated by Teletext Limited, it is another seperate licence).

So it is Teletext Limited you should complain to, not ITV...

Either that or the line that teletext data is carried on went up in flames, I see you're in Granadaland so that may well be the reason.

ITN now provide the news for Teletext.

Sounds like this is a local fault to your area. Teletext for each of their regions is generated at transmitter sites. Chances are that the computer at your local transmitter has gone wrong.

Aww, ITN supply the news for Teletext. It's like the old days when they did that for ORACLE. I wonder how long it will be before ITN put their logo on every news page like they did on ORACLE.

I was under the impression that the news was sourced from PA (Press Association)

Teletext is owned by Harmsworth Media, a subsidiary of The Daily Mail and General Trust, and Media Ventures International .

Actually I think you might be right, I thought they had changed suppliers a while back.

Same here on Grampian. Teletext not updated since Sunday I think. Scottish TV is fine though.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fire which hit BT in Manchester.

A REPLY FROM TELETEXT:

Thanks for your email.

The update problems are due to a fault with British Telecom equipment, which
is unfortunately beyond our control.
