I read in the 'Sunday Mail' that from Tuesday, Reporting Scotland's main evening programme will be sporting a new look. No desk, standing throughout with the weather done from 'various locations'. Jackie Bird is complaining that she will have to buy some shoes, as she normally wears trainers under the desk.

In my opinion, it's about time there was a new look considering we have had the current one for 5 years and all the English regions have had some sort of revamp. I just hope it doesn't look too bad without the desk.

I notice over the last few weeks the Scotland Today set has been changed to light blue and that awful purple look has gone it does look brighter.

And that leaves Wales Today as the only BBC News programme still using the pure 1999 corporate look.

I wsh they'd get off their arses down in Llandaf, and get on with it.

The Sunday Mail mentions one large presenting screen, and more live OB's by the main presenters.

One thing they need is continuity with the presenters. On the main 6.30 they have Jackie Bird, David Robertson, Sally Magnusson, Sally McNair, Fiona henderson, Abeer Macintyre, Gillian Miller and David Henderson presenting, with the first 3 being the main presenters. But you can never tell who it is who is going to be presenting.

I know it can be quite confusing but generally it is

Mon: David and Sally
Tues: David and Jackie
Weds: As Tues
Thurs: As Tues
Fri: as Mon

Jackie and Sally used to present together on a Thursday - but they don't do that any more.

However i have noticed that on Weds other female presenters presents.

I take it that the Breakfast, Lunchtime and Lates, will continue from the newsroom?

What about Newsnight Scotland - will they do as before, and just modify the set slightly?

Well the newspaper article only talks about the evening programme, but thats because it's the flagship, so it may not have bothered talking about the other bulletins. By the way a few months ago it was said the new RepScot set was going to have a virtually - created newsroom in the set, so I don't know how that would fit in with using the real newsroom set.

It also looked further along - as on a 4:3 set you could not see th yellow/orange pillars, normally to the right of the newsroom set.
