Sally is off taking a long break.

Amanda and Imogen are filling in until she's back.

Oh well , as there's a thread open, what HAD happened to Susan Osman's hair tonight?

The proverbial 'hedge backwards' would have won the understatement of the year competition.

You didn't nick the plug off the hair drier for one of your BBCi terminals again did you, I Hate?

Strange you should say that, the mirror they use to get ready is right next to the BBCi desk ...

I didn't steal it before I came home, I can tell you that Smile

Can someone describe what Points West is like?

Namely, presenter characters, existence (or non-existence) of banter, are there any set characteristics exclusive to Points West, and is there anything else noteworthy to tell?

Okay, Katherine, take the truth as somewhere between MY opinion and Mr I Hate's, as I'm definitely biased against and he's definitely biased for.

The main reason for their existence is to report when new frogs are born in Gloucestershire.  If something really important happens they'll either totally ignore it or go over the top.  Witness when Foot and Mouth first started near Devizes, they did the whole show from the town and are still being critisised locally for 'stomping around in dirty wellingtons, spreading the disease'.

Main presenters are Chris Vacher (known as Chris the Fascist) and Susan Osman (of weekend N24 fame).

Yes, there's banter between the two, AND weatherman Richard Angwin, but it's mostly 'in' jokes that go straight over Mr Viewer's head.

Nothing else noteworthy that I can think of, but others might not agree with me.

And I'll sort you with the other side Katherine.

Points West: The UK's most watched news programme, highest share of any news programme, INCLUDING nationals ... on all channels.

And, we don't just report on lost frogs...

Last night's Westland story about 1000 job losses was an exclusive. They had two packages and lives...

HTV saw the news on Ceefax and did a live from their newsroom camera ... hahahaha

And, don't be nasty to Chris Vacher - he's a top bloke, and no mistake.

BTW Nick, foot-and-mouth (it's hyphanated, not capped) started in Somerset. Smile

Wasn't foot-and-mouth's origins traced to a farm near Heddon-on-the-Wall, near Newcastle?

From this present batch, yes ...

But ... originally the first ever UK case was apparently in Somerset

If anyone here works for BBC West, can you please make Points West available online? Thanks. Smile
