BFMTV and i-Télé probably benefit greatly from being on channels 15 and 16 on a large platform with a limited number of channels. That's obviously much better than being tucked away at the end of the EPG after dozens of shopping and repeats channels.

Similarly, TV2 News in Denmark has quite low LCNs, which contributes to it usually getting a 3 percent share of viewing.

LCI has only been free-to-air for less than two months, so for most viewers it is essentially a new channel coming into a market with two established rivals. If viewing habits are to change it will probably take a while.

As we mentioned in another thread, two specialized BFM TV news channels are set to launch soon: a sports news channel and a local channel for Paris (featuring live helicopter reports and the like). I wonder how they will fare.

Interesting, BFM will be up against L'Equipe 21 for the sports news audience.

Going back to TF1's woes, whenever they're in trouble, like ITV do with Ant and Dec, they wheel out Arthur to present every new format going. This time, they're going for the late daytime audience with 'Cinq A Sept' (Five to Seven), a two hour show, which is a spin-off of the last Arthur vehicle, The Weekly Show which has aired in the Friday primetime slot for the last month. That launches next Monday.

Arthur is a French media mogul with presenting just part of his CV, he also runs his own media group which includes the rock radio station Oui FM.

This clip from a few years ago has Craig Ferguson of CBS's The Late Late Show commenting on the similarity of one of Arthur's shows to his own program:

English language article about the Canal+ rebrands. Also to add, the FTA slots on Canal+ are being slashed.

Incidentally, D17's rebrand is going back to the channel's roots as D17 used to be known as Direct Star under previous ownership.

News programmes need more wind chimes nowadays... Gotta love the French, ploughing their own furrow in presentation terms...

I believe those were Christmas decorations (intended to resemble snowflakes), not a regular part of the set!
