It does emphasise how versatile the studio can be. If only The One Show changed the furniture! Having the guest on the island in the distance looks ridiculous and this shows how it could work quite easily.
Just caught up with the programme on iPlayer. From the mix of content, it strikes me the BBC has seen ARD's Live nach Neun (live after nine) or ZDF's Volle Kanne, both post-Breakfast magazine programmes, both more likely to appeal to an older demographic and taken aspects of their shows to create Morning Live.
As for the rug, my Grandma used to have a carpet with that pattern (different colour though)!!!
I think the trouble with that studio size and shape, in any layout than other pre-pandemic One Show it just doesn’t really work once you add a couple of presenters and guests. It’s not a problem This Morning or GMB seem to have with their larger more conventional spaces.
I think there are some nice ideas with the Morning Live set it just doesn’t quite seem right. If anything there is probably too many ideas in there.

This Morning benefited from the move from The London Studios to Television Centre in 2018, which saw their floor space increase from 2,958 Sq Ft when they were at Studio 8 on the south bank, to 4,000 Sq Ft there half of Studio TC3 at Television Centre, with the other half used by Good Morning Britain.

One observation looking at the studio again is that the chairs and sofa don't look like they were commissioned for studio use. Gethin and Kym were both sat quite low and far back.

My aunt that runs a very successful retro furniture business would argue that it’s not necessarily a bad thing!
Indeed that style (of both the rug and chairs) is the flavour of the month in high end furniture stores for a while now. Which is probably where they all came from. Quite adventurous for mundane daytime telly though.
I quite like the set, in a Starbucks meets Caffè Nero kind of way, and at least it's not The One Show set with yet another brightly coloured stretch fabric cover on the same old sofa. Yes, it's quite cluttered but that does a good job of distracting the eye from those damned letters in the window.
I think Kim is quite good, and it's nice to see Doctor Xand on in the mornings again... I quite liked the show he did at the start of lock down, he and Michelle Ackerley were a good match I think.
