No plans for the OS screen to come back at the moment. That studio isn’t in use due to restrictions on staff numbers coming into the BBC. https://t.co/gUuU3p01Ok
Well they could at least make OS slots a proper WN bulletin with a nice open, close and variety of camera shots instead of a one shot static-fest that it is now.
NaT is scheduled for 10:30-10:45 on the news channel this evening, world news America takes its place at 10pm, I assume it won’t actually be NaT? It’s bit weird how it’s ended up there.

No, it must be about time for The Travel Show by then 🙄😁

But they could easily just use the touch screen that was used in Studio B, why not just wheel that to a smaller studio and use it even if its not the weather balcony studio? Or if they can’t move that, just use their on-screen graphics that they traditionally used whenever OS was on location somewhere and then it would feel more authentic to the brand.

I honestly don’t get how the weather balcony has been decommissioned due COVID, I know it’s a small area but the desks are far away on the wall. Surely larger than two meters. They’re could rely solely on the robotics for the shots, even though a lot of the show is hand held. Ros could be there with a stage manager.

I don’t get why it has been decommissioned for OS, but Reeta and Christian seem to be able to use it for the election results.
Is the OS camera locked into position with no operator. Where as OS programme requires an operator and further staff, who currently don't come to the BBC Building which reduces the numbers inside.
For the full OS programme, there were four cameras used (two remote, two camera ops) plus a floor manager and presenter (and any guests) in that area. It’s not an enormous space. Apart from the need for social distancing, bringing extra people in to man that area plus the gallery isn’t currently possible. For the election, the balcony was staffed with just the presenter and the item producer.
"We meet again. Feel strangely emotional being back on the OS touchscreen. Not been up here since we did a regular Tuesday show in March and then the pandemic intervened. Will be seeing if I can remember how to do this through the day in BBC News/ BBC World"
What fantastic coverage of the election result this afternoon on BBC News. And what an amazing job James Reynolds and Katty Kay have been doing with all the breaking news and a lot of insight. Two presenters who are clearly highly knowledgeable, very professional and well versed on US Politics.
