That's what it looks like, either that or the duration of the programme event was only a few seconds. The trailers shown were the ones scheduled, and eventually went out again, after Final Score

It's as if the director accidentally hit 'take next' a second time and the automation moved on to the next junction.

Which is exactly what happened.

It's as if the director accidentally hit 'take next' a second time and the automation moved on to the next junction. I know ICE has its limitations, but isn't this the kind of situation where an emergency cut bus is your get-out-of-jail card?

Are things integrated to the extent that taking the next event would deroute the OS so it wasn't available on emergency cut?

They'd be lucky to have a Take Next button, let alone an Emergency Cut Bank. Surprised the system doesn't *seem* to have allowed a Director to scroll back up the Schedule, and re-take MOTD.

They'll have a take next button as they need the flexibility to move on the schedule at the end of a live programme, with a couple of exceptions they're not fixed length*. That's what the director would have done at the end of Final Score.

I don't think you could go to past events, all the automation I've seen removes items once they've happened. The solution - if there's no manual cut bus - is to insert a new item with the required source and then Take Next to it

*I think its still the case but it used to be that they could make events in the schedule either Fixed or Manual - Fixed events start at the time no matter what, Manual events don't start until they're told to. So the One o Clock News would be fixed as it must start at 13:00:00, but the next event would be manual because you don't know when the news will end

Certainly many live shows are still 'manual take' for off-air with a 2" pre-roll on the event. (i.e. it takes 2" from pressing the button for the cut to be seen to have happened')

Yes, they'd certainly go into a Live programme under automation, but will come out of a Live programme with a manual 'Take' command to get back into automation. AIUI there isn't a big button to do this.

No, I don't think it's an actual button any more but there definately is a take button, even if it's one on a screen.

There was a case a few years ago (on a different playout system) when something similar happened because the director double clicked rather than clicked.

We can only hope live TV doesn't get interrupted by a slip of the arm again!

Quite possibly a bit of interesting documentation of what NOT to do while running a live television programme. That, or it was the ghost of Thames that haunted the VT.

This really seems to be a good year for those of us who like breakdowns Smile

Can someone break down the breakdowns this year for us?! (Sorry, bad joke, couldn't resist!)

I can do everything from mid-November

16/11/20- BBC One goes nuts during Panorama, most of the UK gets affected; BBC One Wales then manages to breakdown AGAIN at the junction between Eastenders and WILTY.

30/11/20- One somehow has a strange fault when we hear talkback at the end of Pointless, and then no announcement into the News at 6

5/12/20- Again, One. This time some trails play that were supposed to be for after Final Score I believe, then we get a rundown of the evening's programmes from a very confused-sounding CA (without a menu, which is odd considering menus have been used for breakdowns before), then 22 seconds of black screen before FS comes back.

I know I'm missing 2-3 breakdowns from One and a good few from other channels, but that's all I can remember in detail.

I don't think this year has been particularly bad for breakdowns. The last few weeks have been fairly bad, but the rest of the year nothing notable... and no where near how it could have been in the circumstances
