My point still stands.

Correction: Nine black people work on This Morning. Every member of production was shown in the 3’30 end credits.

As seen here:

I’m not the only person who noticed the issue:

My post is valid. Unless you’re BAME, you will never ever truly understand why we have an issue in the industry I work in.

Without having you waste anymore energy at Christmas on this, I'll leave this instagram account here:

For anyone not aware, it pretty much sums up experiences and ITV are not great behind the scenes either.

Thank you very much. Glad someone understands.

Oh dear, when did this forum become like permanently outraged twitter?

At one time this wouldn’t be a reaction that was given to a full set of credits.

There was a full set of credits at the end of GMB as well.

Andrew. Permanently outraged, or justifiably frustrated? As a “founding member” I’m disappointed that you cannot see the problem here, it seems that you are a part of said problem. Sorry to hear.

Justifiable but misdirected frustration.

To go from acknowledging the fact that there is a lack of diversity in the industry as a whole to complaining that a specific programme has that same lack of diversity seems to be a pretty big leap.

If the pool of people putting themselves forward for roles is predominantly white that's going to be reflected in who gets hired - that's just statistics. Doesn't the fact that there *are* 8 or 9 non-white people on the team suggest that the programme has no issue with hiring people from the BAME communities when they are the right person for the job?

Steve, I no longer wish to discuss this because clearly you don’t get it.

The pre-record stood out like a sore thumb. "Matt Lucas is currently appearing in Les Miserables The Staged Concert in London - don't miss it!....................." and interviewing carehome staff at 10am - "yeh we've had christmas dinner"

Funnily enough I'm of the same opinion, you don't get it either.

I’m not one for getting involved in these types of discussions but whilst many of us have own opinions, feelings, opinions etc we have to remember we are human beings were are not perfect however we should always strive to be more inclusive where everyone is treated equally/fairly regardless of our race, religion or sexual preference.

Yes we should be for fair representation in TV and tbh in every industry and looking at those posts no one should be said those things by anyone.

No one should be bullied, belittled, etc for being who they are. Any racism, sexism, homophobia even casually should be called out and employers should do more to stamp this out including their own.

But your two sides of this have brought some things to my mind to consider.

If This Morning needs to employ more staff who are not White who are they sacking or not renewing contracts of in order to do this?

In previous vacancies who applied? If no one who is BAME applied what do ITV need to do to encourage qualified BAME people to apply for the vacancies when they happen.

As someone who recently got made redundant and went through several interviews for a new job:-

If I went for a job I’m not suited for I shouldn’t expect to be chosen over someone who is qualified for it.

Also if I was taken on for a job just because I’m LGBT I wouldn’t feel like I was the one most deserving or suited to the role as to me it would feel like a tick box exercise.

In my last job I was taken on because I clearly ticked a box because of LGBT status or the fact I would be the only male in my department; after months of furlough they made me redundant at end of October as I wasn’t going to be a “company boy” and they got who did my job previously to come back in a more senior position so then I couldn’t argue about the fact we are ultimately doing the same job. Different industry I work in to TV but this kind of thing still goes in most industry’s.

I’m torn about what you’ve both posted because part of me thinks we should try to ensure we have a diverse work force but another part of me says if there is a vacancy then it should be by someone most suited/qualified for the role regardless of who they are.
