Personally I think it works. The logo is very dynamic - the fact that it animates in is very good and well thought out. I think they may have lost the plot, however, with regards to just what is going on on the actual idents.
Is it an improvement on what it replaced? Well. I think not. I liked the last incarnation of the sky|one theme with the roads, the fountains, the pylons. It worked. But now there is a logo which will instantly be recognisable as Sky One, and hopefully will be around for a bit longer than the last one!!
Why oh why they've done nothing with Sky Mix though is beyond me. It would work so much better as Sky Two! It's effectively channel 7 on the DSat platform, but in its current guise presents itself as a flick-past "nothing to see here" channel. It could do so much more. Perhaps the fact it hasn't been given a new new logo, and just a tweaking with "one" removed is a sign that something better is on the horizon? No?

Well, this morning the Dog is red, the colour scheme is red and yellow, and the ident is a group of kids toys and toy robots fighting each other.
This style is getting very flexible IMO. I wonder if I should be thinking about it this early, but I wonder what they will do at Christmas...

I do like the idea that they're always looking up on everything. Look up and you will find Sky One in a sense.
I do like how the logo/dog changes colour depending on the time of the day.
The only problem I have is that the evening dog is grey for the SKY and light blue for the one, and so it is hard to spot on screen.
As for Christmas they could do many things, looking up on a display of christmas trees, decorate the buildings currently in the idents.
Have Santa's sleigh flying over instead of the helicopter.

I think the revamp of Sky One looks effective. The former look was bland and the letters were well out dated. The channel nees a new front but it doesnt come close to BBC 1! AH HA!

The thing with this new look is that they can easily add new idents to keep it fresh and alter the colour of the logo, it works better than the last set of idents and is more diversible than the orange look.
It'll work sort of like the current BBC Two and Channel 4 set of idents how they can add new ones to the set, yet keep old ones to the set. It should prove very popular.

Can someone identify the font Sky One are using...

If tried the obvious ones, but it doesnt seem to match all the characters.

A programme that I thoroughly enjoyed, very interesting and there were plenty of good shots too!
Makes a change from Home Videos, which appears to be in the schedules less now.
To be honest Sky One this week has impressed me, there's a few new decent shows that are actually worth watching, not upmarket but it's better than Sex Uncovered or whatever. I don't know if they're trying to make it like the Sky One of 2000 when they comissioned loads of British programmes.

Even though it's about shooting pictures, it looks quite interesting as she looks around dubai.
They should have stretched it to a series where each week is a different picture, though that may have stretched it too far.

Never a bad thing to commission loads of British shows, I've found that they've got a nice mix this week rather than all american programmes, it's a good mix and some great programmes. Though I can't watch SKY at night due to whatever's on ITV1 and UKTV Style!
