The point of the 8pm summary is to NOT look like conventional BBC News - in an attempt to get viewers who wouldn't normally watch BBC News to watch (and get some news as a public service).

That is why it was commissioned, why it has different branding, and different presentation. (It's much more related to Sixty Seconds on BBC Three in style than other BBC News output)

Editorially it has a different agenda, and a different style. Presenting it with any old News Channel presenter, or a presenter heavily associated with the Ten (though Fiona has done it occasionally) wouldn't meet those criteria.

You might as well not bother with it if it just ends up looking like a short daytime summary...

Reporters from the newsroom again, this time presented by David Eades (Zeinab was busy doing GMT in the recording slot), but still with the same shoogly camera that Tim Willcox had last week. At least David moved around the newsroom for each of his links and did a still from a different spot each time.

Kasia Madera did the same for UK Report, from the newsroom and with the shoogly camera. Kasia dared to wander around the newsroom, Sarah Hughes on Sky style.

I see Naga Munchetty is presenting GMT tomorrow

she's presenting the programme as if she's on Blue Peter... her grinning is highly inappropriate given the seriousness of the news from Libya.
Oh, and it's 6.30 AM in Washington, not PM.

I like her, she was very pleasant and comfortable.

Chris Rogers is presenting the 2-5 shift today - he's hardly been on the channel since the NUJ strikes back in November.

I don't know about earlier, but Jane Hill is on with him just now.

It was Jane and Matthew as usual on 11-2, with Simon and Rachel on 830-11, now the rather unusual pairing of Nicholas Owen and Juliet Dunlop on 7-10

Who did 2-5?

2-5 was Emily Maitlis and Clive Myrie.

Jon Sopel did the 5.

Great to see Nicholas Owen and Juliet Dunlop on the 7-10. Unusual, but great pairing.

I know it's not tv, but BIG MOIRA is always worthy of a mention here, rightly bestowed honour as the "Queen of News". Indeedy doody.
