We had Simon McCoy on Breakfast. No man has a sense of humour like he does.

That man should not just be on Breakfast and the news channel. He should be on every bulletin on BBC One, not only is he a good presenter and interviewer, he has a fantastic sense of humour, and adds much needed personality. There would never be any complaints about BBC News ever again.

on every bulletin, really? I think he's better suited to the News Channel and Breakfast where a bit of personality can be shown, where as bulletins tend to be more straightforward. Think the same applies to Jon Sopel too who is another good presenter.

I was being hyperbolic. I see what you mean. Not particularly keen on Jon Sopel, for reasons I cannot explain(!).
Think he should be on the One more.
I am a fan of McCoy, that is all.

Yes I agree with you there. I think he's good on the One/NC/Breakfast, but wouldn't have him on the Six/Ten or the weekend bulletins if it was me in charge. Same goes for Jon Sopel.

Simon McCoy used to present the weekend bulletins and I thought he was excellent. I'd like to see him on the Six, but agree that I wouldn't have him do the Ten. I agree with you on Jon Sopel on all counts.

Domestically, it is definitely holiday season. We had Simon McCoy on Breakfast this morning alongside Louise Minchin. No man has a sense of humour like he does. And, of course, filling in for him on the News Channel right now is Tim (solo).

Also, expect to see Rachael Hodges at some point over the Easter weekend on the News Channel, as she herself tweeted a couple of weeks ago. Awesome.

Noticed Julia has just joined Tim in the studio.

They're going back to what they did around Christmas/New Year. Just 1 presenter for the first shift since there is only 90 minutes of air time (9-10.30am). Wonder who will do the One today (just 5 minutes I think) - both Tim and Julia are equally qualified

The One is 10 minutes, regional news is 5 mins today.
According to the BBC One schedule, they're caling the 20 minute bulletin at 19.25 the BBC News at Six!

Tim Wilcox really is awful. Interview with the NUT woman this morning ...he had such an arrogant tone. He's the only one ho would make me watch Sky !

No doubt it will be Tim, the fact that he's sat on the on-screen left side of the desk is probably a sign of that. However, it definitely should be Julia as she's already a more familiar face for national bulletins.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so - there's something quite irritating about him to watch. I think he's usually an okay interviewer but agreed with you about the NUT interview, he was pushing his luck to say the least!

I have to agree. I find Tim really annoying. He's alright once in a while but he presents far too often for my liking.

Well he is the main relief presenter, so naturally he just covers when the more senior News Channel/World presenters are away. I just don't understand why it always has to be Tim, when there are many other freelance relief presenters who are just as capable, such as Chris Rogers, Adam Parsons, Sue Thearle, Gavin Grey, Julian Worricker, Ellie Crisell, Clive Myrie, Rachel Schofield, Martine Croxall etc. Granted they're not always available, but surely one of them must be!

Chris Rogers documentary is on BBC World at the moment. Our World, about Indian expatriates seeking a new life away from their remote Indian villages, usually in the UK, and who pay unscrupulous agents vast sums of money to get them to the UK with black market visas. On the promise of jobs that don't exist.

Chris is really good at this sort of thing. He carries it off well and I believe he's better at this type of investigative journalism and documentary feed, than he is at presenting.

Almost Panorama material.
