ECPs can ruin the end of a program, you never here the music bcos you have to hear about the next program and like what's just been said, say if it were a sad ending you wouldn't want a promotion for a game show or something in the credits. And chuck the generic credits aswell, they just make things more of a pain in the ass for everybody especially when the programs are repeated on a different channel or long after their first transmission date on the same channel where the presentation has changed, the last bit is obviously directed to ITV!

Hopefully the new look CBBC will have generic credits, rather than the rediculusly small box used currently,

I think generic credits are awful and that they ruin the shows - for example could anyone imagine the episode of Corrie where Hilda Odgen broke down (when Stan died holding his glasses case and crying) with generic credits and ECPs? Similarly the plane crash episode of Emmerdale with generic credits and ECPs?

You'd go from those moments of high tension to 'Next on ITV Strike it Lucky' or something similar - ruining the dramatic emphasis

I think you'll find that when sad moments or dramatic ending happen on ITV1 programmes, no ECPs are used.

The episode of Coronation Street with Dennis's funeral for example. The fact that the credits were on the right rather than in the middle, didn't effect the sad ending

Yes, but when Duggie died on monday they went from that sad ending into a happy trailer for what was coming up next. I think the only reason it was shown like that on Dennis's funeral was because it was the first showing of the new titles/credits (What do the proper Corrie credits look like anyway??????)

Luckily programmes which use generic credits do have their own credits too, authough albeit rarely, if ever seen in the UK. Maybe in the future when ITV see sense they will repeat shows properly, and you can bet that G+ and UK gold will be doing the proper credits, none of this generic crap.
