Did anyone watch the EE omnibus earlier? If you did you'll have seen how bad the credits looked. They are trying to shove loads of credits into around 40 seconds. Doing this meant the credits scrolled up the screen at an alarmingly fast rate, and it meant literally 'Dont blink or you'll miss it'. If you blinked you would miss the entire cast list. It it just me, or is this extremly stupid? I think they should extend the music, like it was until c. 1998 where there were 2 verses and 1 bridge on the omnibus. Adding an extra 15 seconds to the music would make a big difference and would actually make them readable. Was this some big exectutive desision,b ecasue they should have relised making the credits scroll at that rate would look nasty, and I'm sure all the production staff who dont appear on the weeknight editions where the credits are readable disapprove of the short amount of tiemt heir name appears on the screen.

You could read the credits - they weren't screwed up like Parkie's last week but do take your point.
Loads of US programmes do this but theirs are unreadable.
I think they should go back to what they normally do but as it has been a special week I think this was a one off!
I think you'll find it was only for the last edition of the year.
There are a number of people who, contractually, need to be in the credits once a year, but not for every episode. I think people like Simon May for the theme music fall into that category.
I suspect that as it's only for one episode a year, nobody could be bothered to look out the longer version of the music to play, and therefore slow down the roll rate.
The full credits are usually shown on the Sunday omnibus and this showed the usual Sunday credits- no-one extra was there from last week. Simon May is also used every week. The credits were more readable in the old style, authough I think that as the omnibus uses the full credits, a longer version of the music should be used. It's too much to cram into 40 seconds.

I also noticed the presence of the EastEnders URL - shouldn't 'BBC ONLINE' now become 'BBCi'?
I mentioned it the other day in another thread and i think james2001 told me that it's there because they can only change the end cap once a year (cos of the copyright bit) so therefore it will become BBCi on Tuesday's episode (1st of 2002).

I saw it and thought it was too quick - shame they couldn't have just run a longer version for one episode. Are you sure though there wasn't any more people? I'm sure more technical guys were included in it. I mean, are the series creators always credited?
I'd email EE but they never seem to reply. They probabally get so many emials its impossible to read/reply to them all. Plenty of people here have links with the BBC- could they say something, along with asking them not to edit out the original titles and music on old repeats with the never 1994 versions?
Asa, yes the series creators are always credited, even on the weekday episodes.

It must be your eyes, I could read them ok they looked fine however I would like it if they extended the music so it was like the 1998 style
I have episodes on tape with the full music with 3 verses and 2 bridges was used after EVERY episode.
I can understand why the Beeb would not want to do this now, but surely the c. 1998 music isn't too much to ask. It's quite good tune in its entirety, and it would give extra space for ECPs (not benefitting the viewer, of course)
A couple of times they were experimenting with the 45-second music after the weekday episodes. However, this used the full credits. Id like longetr music, even if it was omnibus only, prior to 1998 when 2 verses and 1 bridge was used.
BTW TWO ident, do you have a TV card, as Id love to see the original credit sequence for EE as Ive enver seen it. I've looked through many videos and the oldest EE I've found dates from 2001! Id even more like a video of the full Eps (especially as I sent you a vid a few months back).

My earliest EE recording dates back from 19/03/96 - sadly, a Tuesday! I treasure that with all my heart now; I taped a lot off EE in 95, but then wiped it - if I find any of them, it'll be more a miracle than the Lost Dad's Army tapes!
I too would love to hear that full 1994 theme back on the credits - it'll sound nice on my brand spanking new Nicam Stereophonic TV!
