Nonetheless it was intentionally longer than usual to mark Paul Cunningham's passing. Paul was a current Sound Mixer at ITN who sadly passed away last weekend. He was a thoroughly decent chap and I know many at ITN were very shocked and saddened this week.
It came as a huge shock to us all Rob. I'd known and worked with Paul for many, many years and he was a dear friend and colleague. He'll be sorely missed.
I thought the NaT tribute was a very touching gesture by ITN. I can't recall any other occasion when a crew member has been commemorated in this way who didn't pass away in the course of duty. That's a huge testament to the high regard Paul was held in.
For anybody who missed it last week, screen grab from Thursday's NAT close:

A fitting tribute to a genuinely nice guy.
Thanks for posting that Sky Networks. I had the serendipitous privilege to be working on the programme. Even though I knew it was coming, the caption appearing brought a lump to my throat. RIP Paul.
My pleasure Freddy ... it had the same effect on me too.
And I should just add that I thought the somewhat muted tone adopted by Mary and Alastair for their sign-off was very fitting and appropriately low-key. Much respect to them.
