If you've got a writer like that, it adds weight to sending the winner from The Voice.

I very much doubt John de Mol or the record company (like the rest of the British music industry) wants anything to do with Eurovision.

John de Mol organised the 2012 Dutch national final.

Using The Voice would be excellent, and have a purpose for the winner, the two past winners haven't had a stellar career as a result, at least a Eurovision Entry would be something to hang on for the effort. If it was used the timetable for the series would need to be brought forward to fit in with the EBUs requirements.

But there is a difference between creating a show specifically for Eurovision, than using what they want people to consider a **** hot brand like The Voice.

Did he use The Voice format to select the winner? If not - apples and oranges. (And The Netherlands is not the UK)

No he used a similar format to his show The Winner Is which was sold to a few countries including the US. I think the NF was used as a testing ground for some of the format points like an audience jury whose seats light up depending on who they vote for.

It appears the act has been chosen through the BBC Introducing thing...

So it's a new artist. THANK GOD!

No Geri, Rylan, Belinda or Paloma, they would have all failed.

I have high hopes for Monday's release, I really do. Just hope it's a pop act and not a rock act.

The good news, at least, is it's not a nearly dead dinosaur like Hump or Bonnie. However, I have a sneaking suspicion the ongoing Russia/Ukraine situation is going to impact the results somewhat.

This link: http://bbc.in/1hZbfoa outlines a bit more of the BBC's plans for Copenhagen. It's given me a bit of renewed hope, and possibly made the BBC realise the contest has moved on from the days of Bucks Fizz and Sweet Dreams... And that nowadays the winning song is (whisper it) actually quite good. I hope...

Ukraine had problems with their voting anyway. Tick Tock was the jury favourite, but there were complaints about the televoting. I have a slight feeling Ukraine will withdraw, because of either the crisis there or the voting scandal. Either way, it could help this year's contest because it will mean less influence in Eastern political voting. Belarus and Russia will obviously vote for each other, but apart from that things maybe different.

But even if Ukraine enters the contest, I doubt they'll win anyway.
