Daybreak v1 got 1 million viewers on its first episode - hope GMB can match or beat that, but most of all, maintain it.
It's going to be extremely difficult to match that 1 million viewer average figure especially given ITV's breakfast decline in recent years. Last week, Daybreak barely managed to average 600,000 and the last time it hit a peak figure of a million was it mid-march. In addition, they have gone for a soft launch compared to Daybreak initial launch. However, there has been more coverage about the launch in the national press and ITV this week. Remember, Daybreak v2 attracted only 606,000 viewers with a very low key launch. As I've said before anything above 700,000 threshold would be reasonable given the circumstances, but not ideal.
Whatever the launch figures, the key question as you say is that can it maintain the audience over the coming weeks and months. Daybreak managed to lose 30% of the audience within a month of launching. The breakfast TV market is volatile as it is so it's going to be tough particularly with big events this summer such as the Commonwealth Games and World Cup where the BBC have the upper hand in coverage. During the summer of 2012, Olympic Breakfast was attracting over 1.7 million compared to Daybreak's 500,000.
As for Lorraine, I would expect her slot to average as normal around 1 million or just below. It will be interesting to see how the ratings pan out.
