Right, back to the original idea. Have made some changes based on what people were keen on the least.
Theme: Some weren't keen on the slow start, so I'm using my favourite theme, the short lived 96 version.
House: Having found some (iffy quality) footage of the house as it is now on a grey day, I've tried to tidy it up, make it look a bit sunnier.
Sunrise: An actual sunrise featuring the house is now used.
Impact: I hope you'll agree the end title has maximum impact.
Obviously I've had to do the best I can given the dodgy footage, and I know that the shots of the house are way too bright in contrast with the other footage but it was too late to tone it down, and the original shots were quite dull. I think the house would photograph really well as a fly in sequence. Perhaps we should club together and hire it for a day and I'll borrow my friend's camera drone?

Really appreciate what went into making that work and love the idea of the opening shot being a sunrise over the house.
One thing is for sure though - doesn't the house look quite ugly now. They've done a fairly decent job of renovating the interiors but the front just doesn't look great IMO.

I don't think it's too bad, and certainly better than other incarnations. It makes me wonder what sort of plans were available to the redevelopers. How did they know there used to be one big window where there were two smaller windows upstairs. Unless the fire exposed some cheap patching up and they decided to take it out and have a large window once more.
If you notice, on the left hand side the windows are longer than they were below, and there is an extra little window on the right hand side. The long black window on the right now goes right down to the floor where it didnt previously.

Well considering how famous the house is I think it's obvious they knew where the windows were. The frame of the old balcony door was always quite obvious on the brick house when they put the two smaller windows in.
Don't really get the logic in the lower windows on the right - and think the house now shows why they quite quickly dropped the black windows after 1996 and returned to the white frames broken into squares.

I remember hearing that the the new owners hadn't seen The Big Breakfast. The large window upstairs is a lot shorter than on the yellow house as it doesn't go right to the floor upstairs.
At one stage for quite a while the left hand side of the building had the frames in white:
It's strange, I've tried to look at a few old pictures and it almost looks like these are the original windows installed in 1996 and in 1998 they were painted white and had extra plastic/wood added to them to break them into squares.
When the developer extended them to make them taller, they were replaced with black versions. I think they were extended to make the separate dwelling more attractive inside. The square windows would have made things feel rather pokey.

It's not like they couldn't have easily found images of what it used to look like - plus it's highly likely the people working on redeveloping it knew exactly the house they were dealing with. As a fan not sure whether that would be a dream job or a nightmare - would be horrible ripping the soul out of the place, but for it to work as a residential property it had to be done.
Agree in that shot the top left windows do look like the 1996 windows refitted to form the new look. I think for a cottage they're quite big windows, but I guess with the room opened up rather than divied they probably did feel small. Wonder how the garden is divided in that arrangement - is it communal or doesn't the small house have anything more than the bit directly outside the door.
And a silly question perhaps but does the house have any vehicle access?
P.S. Vaguely bringing this back to the idea of mocks and the hypothetical I wonder what they would have done had they still been on air around the fire.
Even if they had the will to fit it up ASAP we know with insurance etc. these things are never quick so they'd have undoubtedly been forced out of the house not just in the short term but in the long term too. I guess a tour of the country might have been the best solution rather than an alternative semi-permanent base - though with it happening in November that's probably not as easy as during the summer. Maybe C4 would have struck a deal to let them have the other BB house in the short term.

The small house has only the garden immediately outside its front door. I think there's quite good vehicle access from behind now.
In the event of the fire, if by other house you mean the Housey Housey replica in Telford, this has changed beyond recognition on the inside.
They would probably just use Planet 24's studio behind the house. There were enough props and set pieces stored there to create a makeshift set, and of course the production facilities were already based there. Segments of the show have come from there in the past.
Failing that they could have decamped to the Big Brother studios as they were just gearing up for Celebrity Big Brother 2 in November 2002. I'm sure they could have used the BBLB set.
