Would anyone know what department store last night's Not Going Out Christmas special was filmed in? Usually when a TV show films in a shop there's something that makes it identifiable but there was nothing I saw that identified it as a Debenhams or a Marks and Spencer etc.

I was wondering the same thing.

I only saw little bits as I had a friend round when it was on, but was it definitely an actual store and not a "tv" store made in a studio?

I guess it would be hard to create a realistic store in a studio on a probably small budget though.

EDIT: Yep, it was definitely a real store, watching again tonight. No idea where it is though.

It looks like Peter Jones in Slone Square to me.

There is hints of John Lewis branding there. So could be Peter Jones. Is there a Cafe Nero?

But looking at that store the one on the screen looks less fancy and a bit more bog standard.

Pretty sure there is a Café Nero Express there.

I'd never heard of Peter Jones, but looking on the John Lewis website would suggest that it is perhaps not this store? The department guide on the John Lewis website makes no mention of a Caffe Nero (a big overhead sign for which can be seen in one shot), and I seem to remember that a floor guide graphic next to the lifts in some of the shots said that there were ten floors, with the lift display showing itself to be going this high, whilst PJ only has 8 customer accessible floors (including G and LG). Happy to be proven wrong though!

EDIT: An 'expresso bar' is advertised as being on the top floor in the stores floor plan, but I thought that the Caffe Nero brand would be mentioned here if it is a Neros.

I may be wrong. I can't find any department stores with then floors in London, but then again it doesn't have to be filmed in London.

UPDATE :

It looks like House of Fraser in the City :

I thought Not Going Out finished last Christmas.

Hopefully last night's ratings will lead to the BBC realising viewers are tired of the same line up year in year out - ratings down nearly 50% in 5 years, viewers rejecting EastEnders in their millions and Mrs Brown running out of jokes for yet another Christmas episode.

Can I just say how nice it was to see a proper sketch show on the BBC on Christmas Eve! Walliams and Friend wasn't perfect and I imagine not to everyone's taste (but then rarely are sketch shows to everyone's taste), but it would be great if we could have something like it back on regularly. In fact Christmas Eve programming was a lot better than Christmas Day IMO when it came to comedy.

Slightly off topic but, those of you interested in TV news reporting in particular will want to catch up on ITV's Cameraman to the Queen. Despite its title, much of the programme was about Peter Wilkinson's career at ITN before becoming the royal cameraman - lots of interesting stuff in there if you don't particularly care for the royals. And a chance to see past and present ITN stalwarts interviewed and in the same room near the end.

As far as I know, Lee Mack said it'd be the last series. I don't know if he ruled out any more Christmas specials, but let's remember how many times Only Fools "finished".

If I remember I thought he just said no more series would be made but never ruled out specials.
