It looked very different to when they went back to Peter did he move studios to the world set to carry on while us in the UK got Julia and Ben

I think it's because he was standing in front of the 'Libya Uprising' graphic on the longest side wall (even though it wasn't shown in full) instead of the usual newsroom backdrop.

HO
As serious as the Libyan situation is, I really think that was a complete and utter waste of time
Well, I suppose if you think about it, the newsflash will have been seen by loads people than would normally see a news update (like the daytime ones) because of the rugby so that's why they will have felt the need to have a farmiliar face on. But I also suppose if Julia did the ones during France v Wales, why couldn't she do it during the other match instead of Sophie? I think for most people she will have still have been considered an anchor with "gravitas and recognisability"
Very much so. Julia has been presenting the news on terrestrial television for almost 30 years - everything from the Nine O'Clock News to News at Ten. Quite why the BBC feels the need to drag in Sophie Raworth - with only 14 years national TV experience and far less 'gravitas' than Julia - I'll never understand. I can't stand this current mentality of 'viewers can only understand news if it's delivered by a young, attractive presenter'. There's something to be said for age and experience, especially when news is concerned. Julia was delivering news of Libya, including the Lockerbie bombing, when Sophie Raworth was barely out of school!
I don't think it has anything to do with not wanting to use Julia. In fact Julia presented another News Report at around 8.20. As mentioned, Sophie was probably in on Royal wedding business, and Julia may not have arrived at the newsroom yet.
Granted, but if they were that convinced that Julia was up to the job, why did they not call her in early instead? Are you telling me that if Sophie Raworth had not had some other engagement tonight, they'd still have replaced her with Julia Somerville? Not a chance...
By that logic the BBC would probably have called Fiona Bruce, Huw Edwards, Emily Maitlis, Mishal Husain or Kate Silverton in to present instead of Julia and Sophie - I find it hard to believe Julia was the most senior presenter available. Like said, it's more likely Sohpie was around and they'd rather have her than front a BBC 1 'newsflash' than one of the presenters otherwise on the NC at that time.
Sophie Raworth was called in this afternoon as Beeb bosses wanted an anchor with gravitas and recognisability to introduce the news report. She had a prior, personal engagement this evening however so could not continue.

When the BBC One left Peter said 'From London' and 'on this channel' but I have no idea if World would have taken BBC One bulletin, highly unlikely.
Is World taking the bulletin that's on BBC1 does anyone know?

BBC World took the beginning of the bulletin, with the relevant Libya story. During the final, brief UK-related stories, they went to a break.

Chris Rogers back on again now. I wonder who will take over from them later for the overnight slot
WO
My theory, Adnan Nawaz probably and I would like to think another presenter too, possibly with more knowledge on an International level. With this story continuing to break they would really benefit from a double header... who else could they bring in... perhaps Kasia Madera, Mike Embley, Karin Giannone?
Did the telephone interviewee talking to Chris Rogers just say the S word!
I notice we have American-ised spelling on the ticker 'Authorized'...
I have to say though, Chris Rogers and Peter Dobbie work really well together for a pairing that have never been on air together before, likewise Roger Johnson and Owen Thomas. Anyone would think it was International Mens Day (which takes place in August!).
It is really good to see Peter Dobbie back on the News channel (albeit for a Simulcast). It was a great shame when he moved to World News, he was always a great anchor and in the (earlier) days of News 24, Peter and Chris Eakin were my personal two favourite male presenters.
...and as I say that Peter Dobbie has left the studio!

Yes and I think another word as well, wasn't sure has anyone apologised?

No. Not that I heard anyway.

I thought I heard at least 1 slip of the tongue on that interview, perhaps they didn't even hear it at the time.
Interesting it has gone to just Chris, I'm assuming it's still a simulcast and crossing to Ben Brown I thought he was live but it was a recording of the live segment on the earlier BBC1 bulletin.
