However it appears to share the same tx as that which shows Look North Leeds, so it's not going to be too much of an advantage.

This is one of the things which a Sheffield Local TV station could capitalise on - both BBC and ITV services are based in Leeds, and there are many people who believe a minor story in Leeds will trump a major story in Sheffield for the running order of both programmes. Never mention the words "monster trucks" in front of a Sheffield Wednesday supporter...

Even Sheffield Live acknowledged this, they did a survey which showed the number one demand from the Sheffield population was a strong local news programme. I'm going to try and get hold of a capture device to record a show and let others decide if they think they've managed that...

Indeed I was surprised that the Local service due to transmit from Emley is intended for Leeds and named as such, even though most of West Yorkshire will receive it.

Many would argue that Leeds already has a monopoly on local media ("Look Leeds") and something based in say Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax for the whole of West Yorkshire might have filled a niche more than the Leeds centric service that is proposed.

I notice that Sheffield Live's flagship news bulletin goes out 6.30pm - 7pm, which is frankly ridiculous scheduling at the same time as BBC regional news. These local channels need to get a grip on scheduling if they hope to ever reach an audience.

Pure stupidity. I suspect it might be the only part of "Sheffield Live" which is live too.

No the following hour long panel discussion, and all the radio station simulcasts are too.

Is it a camera in a studio or a text service with just audio from the radio?

Not seen it myself yet, although there's plenty of comments on Twitter about it.

It's cameras in the studio - one shot showing both presenters/presenter and guest, and one showing the decks. I think the daytime sustaining service is just audio and slides though.

There have been a lot of comparisons to various American and Canadian local TV channels, but to be honest, the nearest thing I've seen to our local television is what happens in New Zealand. Dunedin Television is about the best example of what actually compares to local TV in the UK. Although there's no live feed, you can watch some webcasts of programmes at http://www.dunedintv.co.nz/podcasting/watch-online.

Although just clocked they're using/taken inspiration from ITV Regional News graphics (circa 2004 ) - (Off Topic...)

Sheffield Live seems to be being taken over by windmills.

Thank you for this Smile

Does anyone know the music used? Is it a library track, a special composition or a commercial track?
