It reminds me a little bit of when Noel's House Party went to New York. An attempt to keep the format on its toes by changing its setting.

I'm surprised they haven't taken Saturday Night Takeaway out to different studios / arenas for live Saturday shows. I know they did the tour, but that is different.

As for last night, it was more of a culmination of the series to do with the prize, rather than to keep the format on its toes. That said, a cruise ship perfectly summed up what SNT is.

A couple of days ago the Daily Mirror printed an article saying the Ronnie Corbett One Show was a shambles based on a minor autocue stumble.

Now The Sun reckons last night's takeaway was "plagued by technical errors" but then goes on to describe just the issue with the camera, embellishing it in the process.

There is only one word for this show: Stale. Fun clearly gone out of it. I wonder what the ratings will be like.

Did you used to watch Noel's House Party where he played the same games every week for 20 weeks, was that stale after week 3?

It's funny how people complain about TV being the same old stuff all the time, but when someone does something different, it's seem to be a desperate last roll of the dice.

House party lasted 8 years? and new things appeared most series, There is nothing wrong withing having the same things week in and out as long as there is fun and bedlum going on, ie the spark. Takeway have been on since 2003, worse still it clear the fun has gone out of the show, It far to ridgit.

How on earth was last night different? it was trying to hard to be flashy and wild yet it just seem like forced fun.
Look back at some of the early shows or even 2008 there still make me laugh on youtube, something is clearly missing.

For you there is something missing, you can't speak for everyone, obviously.

The ITV policy on black credits is no longer enforced as strongly as it used to be, so it does seem strange that they opted for those credits last night. Broadchurch has used, for all its episodes, a shot from a helicopter/drone flying across the water towards the cliffs in the credits, I seem to remember the final Dancing on Ice stayed on visuals from the studio, as did the ITV Election debate. I can see why they have the policy, but it does seem strange at times - I've always thought it looks odd on This Morning when something keeping in-style with the graphics of the rest of the show would look much better.

Never understood that policy in the first place. By all means use the same typeface, font size, alignment and everything across the board, but enforcing shows to crash out into a black background was always weird. With a show like Takeaway, studio visuals are much preferable.

Don't understand why people have to take jabs at other's preferences.

I don't like Ant and Dec but I can appreciate Takeaway and love BGT.

From the article, it's clear that whoever wrote the article didn't watch the show at all:

Luckily the night was saved by the exciting climax of their whodunnit comedy sketch show Who Shot Simon Cowell?

Bit of a cock up, the camera mistakenly cut to an empty announcer booth, before Ant and Dec tried to throw to James, who wasn't there...

Not the camera, the vision mixer. The cameraman doesn't cut to the cameras, that's the vision mixer's job.

I don't even think the vision mixer (human) was the error. It looked like the vision mixer had crashed or frozen and they had to go to the emergency cut panel. It stayed on screen far too long for it to be human error and to cut off.

How is it a strange reply? It's quite an obvious stating the obvious type of reply when I think about it Laughing

In the pantheon of pointless outside broadcasts, that was better than Noel's New York House Party, but not as good as Going Live on a cross-channel ferry which in 1990 was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen on television. The ship was MOVING, as well!
