Maybe I don't watch enough but strange to see Philippa Tomson newscasting today.

She's done it a few times. Think she fits in quite nicely to be honest. They are running behind and have been all morning with the 7am TOTH ending at 7:04

Pip did a lot of presenting/newsreading in the North East in the past. Think she did the night shift on Sky News for a while.

I think she's very good and hope she'll be presenting sometime.

She also did some presenting on a lifestyle or wellbeing channel way way back in the days of ITV digital and she occasionally cropped up at weekends on ITV news channel too

Yep, she started as a meteorologist then progressed to anchoring North East Tonight.

No she moved from Central to be one of the main anchors of North edition of NET alongside Jonathan Morrell as Mike Neville had officially decided not to return to Tyne Tees. Pam took on the South edition of NET alongside several co-presenters over the years.
Then in 2009 when Border and Tyne Tees merged. Pip became the weather presenter/environment correspondent but also stand in main presenter.

I would have thought Pip would be out with Ravir or Kate News Reading!

Ranvir has been covering all the election/referendum debates over the last year so makes sense for her to continue.

Interesting to see this on Facebook earlier... Susanna seemed genuinely shocked that Piers mentioned the viewing figures on-air. I was surprised to see that they restarted the OT just so that Piers could say 'his' line.

I'm fairly sure Susanna wasn't 'genuinely shocked'; she was just playing along with the 'banter'. He didn't 'mention viewing FIGURES' either, he just said "when very few people are watching" referring to it being very early in the morning when very few people would be up in general, not that people would be watching something else.
