What was your favorite regional ITV station growing up?

Children's Magazine programmes had to have some form of 'educational content by stealth' as a requirement.

Tiswas suffered the same burden, but they approached it differently, by virtually apologising on air for stopping the entertainment and starting the teaching before a short educational segment started.

At one time, all ITV companies did their own programme switching. What did they mean by programme switching? When Granada bought Yorkshire Tyne Tees, programme switching was moved to Leeds, and the then still independent Border moved programme switching there, but retained their own continuity team?

You mean playout/pres, not switching ?

Well according to an article on transdiffusion they called it switching.

Generally it was Grampian TV, I remember on the odd occasion picking up Scottish TV

In the 1980s, did any ILR (Independent Local Radio) stations share broadcasting facilities, i.e. buildings, with ITV companies?

Radio Aire is right next door to YTV, James Whale's show was a co production between the two.

I know Century was originally owned by Border, not sure if it was co-sited, but that was the 90s.

But Radio Aire and YTV were different companies. It was only James Whale that was a joint operation. From memory, in it's run, they used Radio Aire's building and also part of YTV for different series. Some of YTV's journos also moved from RA to YTV and BBC.

Although Border owned Century Radio, Century never broadcast to the Border region. It was based in Gateshead, and later Nottingham and Manchester.

Yes the radio part of Border was a more important part of the company than the TV side at one point. So much so that when it got taken over it was by Capital Radio rather than a TV company. They then kept the radio stations and sold the TV arm off to Granada
