I say - get rid of the Monday & Friday episode. Quality rather than quantity!

Well, I seriously think EE is almost irreparible now.

Look at it this way.

Louise Berridge has left a HUGE gap in the cast now, and the new characters are complete crap. Even if she introduces about 20 new characters, its not going to go down well - its not normal for so many to be introduced at once - and whats the betting at least 15 of them are useless?

The show held up against Emmerdale last night with the Kat and Alfie Storyline. From MediaGuardian:

It was a disappointing night all round for ITV, as schedulers repeated their trick of putting Emmerdale head to head with soap rival EastEnders. Last week the ploy resulted in the BBC1 flagship soap plummeting to its worst ever ratings.

The damage was not quite as bad last night, with EastEnders coming out on top thanks to a dramatic two-hander between Shane Ritchie's character, Alfie Moon, and Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace. But the head to head clash hit audiences for both soaps.

Emmerdale attracted an average of 7.2 million viewers, four in 10 of the available audience, for an hour-long special between 7pm and 8pm, while EastEnders had an average of 8.3 million viewers between 7.30pm and 8pm.

But Emmerdale's figures fell by almost 3 million in the second half of the show, suggesting many soap fans turned over to EastEnders.

I flitted back and forth. Jessie Wallace gave a strong performance, but I honestly couldn't bring myself to give a toss.

Gimme a Dot episode any time.

I know what you mean.

I mean,Louise Berridge seems nice and all,and it'd be quite unfair if she did lose her job,but I suppose if the BBC want to save EE,they will have to be reckless and sack her.

I think you mean ruthless there, dear. It would hardly be reckless to do something so responsible - and that they really should have done a long time ago.

If I did, Eastenders would be one of the first shows to be axed by me......

One thing I've noticed with soaps is that people are either addicted to them or hate them with a vengance and want them removed from screens ASAP.

And that'll be why you never will run the BBC.

You could not axe the BBCs most popular programme just because you didn't like it. the whole thing about running a TV channel is that you have programmes that will be watched and enjoyed , not just ones that you like.

EE may be going through a bad patch, OK a very bad patch but it'll come through it, last nights episode was very good, and i'm sure in a few months irt'll be back on top.

Remember that just a while ago, Corrie was doing rubbish and EE was on brill form, its just switched for a while, like it does all the time.
