I thoroughly enjoyed Birds of a Feather last night, and it seems to have gone down well on Twitter too. It was also the most watched show on ITV last night with almost 8 million viewers, more than double the slot average.
I predicted about 8 million last night which it fell just short of, reception from most people (not the critics) has been resoundingly positive so I imagine the series shouldn't lose many viewers as it progresses.
I wonder what this would have got on Christmas or Boxing Day BBC One?
It peaked at 8.3, and will probably manage an average of 8 million once all the figures have been collated. I was thinking around 6 or 7 million but happy it did a lot better. It has a good timeslot and I'm not sure it would have done as well on Christmas day.
Broadsheets hate it, tabloids love it, just like old times.
From a pres point of view, I loved the updated titles! The idea of using all the different photo formats was inspired (although they were a bit lazy leaving the black 'frame' around some of the photos from the original titles.
I was also glad the actual programme didn't go all filmic on us too, all frames seemed to be in tact.
Does anyone know what happened to Jackpot247 on ITV[1]? It was on earlier and according to the EPG should still be on now but Jeremy Kyle is on and it doesn't have any subtitles just "Subtitles by Deluxe" which presumably is a caption left over from a previous programme.
They are broadcasting an automated game with no presenter on their website. The break in Jeremy Kyle was taken up with a 'Keep watching Jeremy Kyle on ITV' promo.
To put it another way...
WTF they took @Jackpot_247 off itv tonight and replaced it with #jeremykyle
02:43 Your Question: Yo! What is going down? Why is Jackpot 24/7 not on ITV? Thanks buddy.
02:43 Please wait and one of our operators will be with you shortly.
02:43 You are now chatting with Paul G - Jackpot247
02:44 Paul G: Good morning
02:44 Jeffrey J: Good morning to you too, Paul.
02:44 Paul G: Unfortunately we have been experiencing technical issues and so are not currently on TV
02:45 Jeffrey J: I see. Are the technical issues with the game or with the broadcast?
02:45 Paul G: It is with the website.
02:46 Jeffrey J: I can see that would be quite the problem. I hope your webmaster(s) can resolve the issue.
02:48 Jeffrey J: Anyway, nice chatting with you. You are a very helpful gentleman. Good night, don't work too hard.
02:49 Paul G: You're welcome
02:49 Paul G: Enjoy the rest of your day
The website does have various Drupal related error messages on it at the moment.
The end credits for this evenings "The Brits are Coming" were along the bottom of the screen, but with no black background obscuring the bottom portion of the screen, something which I don't think I've seen before. Hopefully this isn't just a one-off, and we'll be seeing more like this in the future.

Down to just over 5m now , less than Pound Shop wars last Thursday
Down to just over 5m now , less than Pound Shop wars last Thursday
It beat Pound Shop wars including +1, with 5.4 million tuning in, and judging by previous episodes this will rise to around the 7 million mark once figures are consolidated.
This week's was the lowest rated so far, but it hasn't really lost much share since episode 2, and ratings have stayed pretty consistent through the run.
When you're looking at numbers between 7 and 8 million on a Thursday night sitcom, it's almost certainly looking for a recommission, perhaps also a Christmas special this year.
