Interestingly, the UK jury will be headed by Carrie Grant from Sweet Dreams.

It is nice to have someone who has done Eurovision before lead the jury, since she knows what to look for.

Best song, sung well. The judging criteria include performance not just composition.

Well I should have said performance rather than song, I'm not sure what having done the competition has got to do with how well you can judge that. Of course there are other reasons why Carrie Grant is more than qualified.

You certainly wouldn't want a jury made up of Jemini, Scooch and Daz Sampson.

Quite. I think Carrie's got a good background - as a performer, vocal coach and someone who has worked in the entertainment and TV industry. Certainly a perfectly credible jury head.

And just for good measure - this is Carrie performing in 1983 in Frankfurt. In front of a couple of hundred electric fire elements... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_hCutiujNM

Just caught up on the video of the staging, now that's pretty cool!!!

Always thought nothing could top Moscow, however it's up there, and there's water, I hear, as well Smile Love the green room being right in front of the stage

Of course, if we won, where would we have it? I'm guessing The O2's out as they could never take it our of action for so many weeks...

The SSE Hydro in Glasgow? That's brand spanking new and is huuuuge, also the BBC is right next door as well...

The Odyssey Arena in Belfast perhaps? It hosted the hugely successful MTV Europe Awards in 2011 and is the same size as the Malmo Arena.

I think that's a good shout for a lot of reasons. Perhaps they wouldn't have contemplated having the contest Northern Ireland the last time we hosted it? So it would be a vote of confidence on that score and it would bring the contest back to the island of Ireland for the first time in a long time. It would suit the BBC agenda of the nations having a good level of production too.

Of course it won't happen, so doesn't matter.
