My friend said did they do that for every country?' But nah!! Didn't they feature us last year too?

It certainly happened in one of the first years he commentated on in one of the commercial slots. He's been mentioned another time, and I remember Wogan being mentioned by the hosts in the past (not including 1998/9) But isn't that when they have the second commercial slot?

Norton knew full well that was going to happen.

As did the BBC team, as they dipped Norton's feed, as his audio feed would have come through on the main feed as part of his interview, I'd have thought.

It's TV things like that are very rarely impromptu. Obviously the presenters where aware of Norton's script tonight, so I'd say he knew about it.

There was a suggestion that it was actually recorded yesterday. No idea if that is true or not.

Yes, but not expected by the viewers - which I'm pretty sure, as a group, cityprod is part of.

He said Norton got surprised. Which was the point I was responding too.

It certainly seemed like he was surprised to be honest.

I'm enjoying the Eurovision Song Contest, and particularly liked the entries from Montenegro, Austria, Sweden, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary, San Marino and UK. It took me a while to be able to vote as lines were engaged, but eventually I managed to vote for Austria, Hungary and San Marino. I liked Austria as it reminds me of a James Bond theme, Hungary due to its reference to running (in the aftermath of me running the Bath Half 2014 Family Fun Run Sunday 2 March 2014, and San Marino as it's such a beautiful ballad. Good luck Molly for the UK!

Great post.

It certainly seemed like he was surprised to be honest.

I have to agree - he's not too bad an actor, after all.
