Sorry. Im not a fan of this new look. Its soo...(to me)...not Sky News.

You can't really judge a 'new look' when it hasn't even appeared on screen yet. The studio clearly isn't quite finished so for all we know there could be other elements going in after the floor has been laid.

Lots of white everywhere no doubt, slowly that is happening with Sky Sports as well. (Go look at their new apps, hardly any color in sight)

The blue aspect of Sky News with the red made it look modern and progressive, all the white being used recently makes it look bland, just look at the Current Sky news website compared to the previous one.

Exactly. This isn't meant as a criticism of TVF specifically (though it can apply here at times) but people assume that if Presenter X (who may even appear to be an heir-apparent) doesn't get the slot viewers thought they should/would, it means Presenter X will feel hard-done-by. There will be instances where that is the case (not just at Sky - I mean in general), but Stephen definitely doesn't fit into that category.

We have been spoilt that for the last eleven years that we've had a breakfast tv legend with mass appeal in that slot who can switch from gravitas to light banter while making it easy, while also being marketable to the Breakfast and GMB audience.

Now it appears we're back to the post 2005 era with unknown presenters to those who don't watch Sky News or Sports avidly.

I'm sure if Sky did a survey on recognisable presenters, most would come up with Kay Burley, JT, Dermot and Adam Boulton and possibly Anna Botting also being a veteran, but Sarah-Jane and Jonathan, probably not, which probably means they'll start from scratch with regards to marketing the show to viewers.

What's the problem with Sarah Jane? She's a very competent presenter, she did a great job replacing Eamonn when he had his operation, and I'm sure she'll do a good job presenting the show on a permanent basis.

I think the most crushing disappointment of all for everyone here is that former senior foreign correspondent and long-serving news presenter Colin Brazier won't be doing three minutes of sport every half-hour alongside Jeff Stelling. Razz

Maybe, but it is my opinion. Even before the move to the Tesco Extra building, SkyNews seems to have developed into almost a blue version of BBC News in some respects. The spark it used it have is gone IMO. Its unlikely they will be launching new onscreen graphics. And the presenter isnt going to be lying on a wooden floor. And unless they plan on adding colour to the rest of building and staircases, it will still have a beige Tesco Extra backdrop. Maybe they should add shelves and some refrigerated cases. Frozen peas in aisle 3!

Even the recent change to stop using capitals for every word of a headline is heading in the BBC direction, the website last revision was heading the same way,, they're even increasingly going red and white these days rather than using blue. It's essentially like you say, becoming a clone of BBC and losing it's personality and brand values.

And then they commission The Pledge, which is as far away as the BBC as you can get.

Nope - paired up with Stephen Fri-Sun. Further info on Gillian in due course.

Oh no, sad to see the Stephen/Gillian partnership breaking up. This just gets worse....
