Guys... it was Day 1 of a FOUR-WEEK rehearsal, with a photo taken off a monitor. Chill!

I don't see anyone getting too wound up about it?

If Sky employees are going to publicly post pictures of rehearsals what's the problem with us commenting on it? Of course things might/will be tweaked over the next couple of weeks. And we'll be there to talk about it when it does.

But surely it shouldn't be critiqued until there's at least moving picture to be seen of it in something like fully-fledged form? Otherwise it's a bit like saying a cheese toastie is rubbish because the cheese hasn't melted, but it's only been under the grill for ten seconds.

Your posts are increasingly sounding like you're speaking FOR Sky News rather than ABOUT.

Naturally if your colleagues post pictures then people are going to talk and critique - whats the harm in that, apart from rattling you for some unbeknown reason?

Not true on either front. I just don't see the point in passing judgement on something that isn't a finished presentational product - hence the four weeks of rehearsals.

Not "silent" - maybe just fewer declarative adjectives (be they - in the interests of balance - critical or praising) until it hits air?

Wow the new Sky News set is amazing / rubbish

Delete as applicable in 4 weeks.

Also, the only thing I actually remember about the last big relaunch was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8xk_AkeP5c (10 points for whoever gets why)

I feel like if you read between the lines there is a big cheesy clue in there.

Whey! (Hey - that works on two levels!)

One hint:: Certain people may or may not get stroppy at 6am on Monday the 17th. I'm saying no more. Wink

Well unless they plan on adding colour, texture lighting, video ribbons, screens or some kind of visual interest to those beige balconies, i doubt the view will improve. And all the swirling cameras in the world isnt going to do much to help that view.

No accounting for taste. Clearly Sky are on a different track here, moving towards a more contemporary news product which does not involve drenching everything in red and blue lighting or reviving tacky presentation elements from the 1990s that many here are still pining for.

Strikes me as very Scandinavian so far, crisp, clean and minimalist.
dosxuk, bilky asko and Charles gave kudos
